Crimsafe frequently asked questions

Crimsafe is an Australian security door and window system with more than 30 years of development. It combines 0.9 mm grade 304 structural stainless steel mesh (Tensile Tuff®) with the patented Screw-Clamp® fixing system, which holds the mesh in the frame and spreads the force of an impact across the whole mesh. Doors and windows also have three-point locking.

Iron bars protect, but they make the house darker and make it feel like a prison. Crimsafe protects against forced entry with stainless steel mesh that lets in natural light, fresh air and the view. It also works as an insect screen.

Standard insect screens break easily with everyday use, children or pets. Crimsafe mesh is extremely hard to cut or pierce and is designed to withstand impacts, crowbar attacks and knife cuts.

Yes. Crimsafe is designed to resist forced entry by burglars and squatters. Its performance has been tested independently in collaboration with universities.

All models pass the Australian Standard tests: repeated impacts, crowbar attack, pull and knife-shear tests. The Standard range withstands a single impact of up to 550 joules and the Ultimate up to 750 joules.

Both use the same 0.9 mm stainless steel mesh. Ultimate has twice as many screws holding the mesh and a cover that hides them and protects them from corrosion, so it withstands stronger impacts and is worth considering near the sea.

In Spain we offer a 3-year warranty.

Usually around 4 weeks from when you confirm your order. In busy periods it can be up to about 10 weeks. We confirm the timing when you order.

Yes. For windows that need to work as an exit there is the Safe-S-Cape version, which opens from inside without a key and stays secure from outside. It can be hinged or sliding. During the visit we advise you on which openings to set up as exits.

It depends on how it is installed. If the screen goes inside the opening and does not change the façade, you usually do not need it. If it is fitted outside and changes the façade, check with your comunidad or property administrator first. We explain this during the visit.

Yes. The holes are 1.5 × 1.5 mm and the mesh is black, which reduces glare: in normal light, your view is barely affected.

Yes. Depending on the angle of the sun, the mesh can cut the solar heat coming through the window by up to 53%.

Yes. Flies and mosquitoes cannot get through the mesh, and very small insects such as midges are reduced by around 80%.

No. Dogs, cats and birds cannot get through the mesh with their claws or beaks.

Very little. Like a filter, the mesh catches dust and dirt, so give it a clean every now and then. We show you how when we install it.

Yes. Every installation is made to measure: non-standard sizes, complex shapes, curved doors and other architectural details.

Yes. Crimsafe fixed security screens are ideal for children’s rooms: you can leave the window open for fresh air and remove the risk of falls.

Crimsafe screens for sliding windows suit single or multi-panel windows and can be installed inside or outside, whichever is more practical.
